Issues & Priorities

Weston County is a special place to live, work, raise a family, and build a future. Don Taylor believes county government should focus on the essentials: protecting taxpayers, maintaining critical services, supporting economic growth, and remaining accountable to the people it serves.

If elected, Don's priorities will be guided by common sense, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to putting Weston County residents first.

Responsible Spending and Fiscal Accountability

Taxpayer dollars should be treated with the same care families and businesses use when managing their own budgets.

Don believes county government must focus on essential services, eliminate waste whenever possible, and ensure every spending decision provides value to county residents. He supports careful budgeting, efficient operations, and long-term planning that protects taxpayers while maintaining the services citizens depend upon.

County government should be transparent about how public funds are spent and accountable for the results those investments produce.

Open, Transparent Government

Citizens deserve a government that listens.

Don believes elected officials work for the people—not the other way around. He supports open meetings, meaningful public participation, and clear communication between county government and residents.

Every citizen should have the opportunity to be heard, ask questions, and understand how decisions are being made. Don is committed to being accessible, responsive, and available to residents throughout Weston County.

Strong Public Safety and Emergency Services

Protecting the safety of county residents is one of government's most important responsibilities.

Don supports maintaining strong partnerships with law enforcement, emergency responders, dispatch services, and public safety agencies. He believes county leaders must ensure first responders have the resources, equipment, and support necessary to serve communities effectively.

Reliable emergency services are essential to maintaining the quality of life that residents expect and deserve.

Economic Growth and Job Creation

A strong local economy benefits everyone.

As a business owner, Don understands the challenges facing employers, workers, and entrepreneurs. He supports policies that encourage responsible growth, attract investment, improve infrastructure, and expand economic opportunities throughout Weston County.

Growing the tax base through economic development helps strengthen county finances without placing additional burdens on taxpayers.

Supporting Rural Communities

Every community in Weston County matters.

Don believes residents in Newcastle, Upton, Osage, and throughout the county deserve equal access to their elected officials and county services. He supports efforts to ensure county government remains connected to all communities and responsive to their unique needs and concerns.

Strong rural communities are the foundation of a strong county.

Leadership Based on Common Sense

Don approaches public service the same way he has approached business and community leadership for decades: listen carefully, gather the facts, respect different viewpoints, and make decisions based on what is best for the county.

He believes solutions should be driven by practical results rather than politics, and that elected officials should always put the interests of citizens ahead of personal agendas.

Putting Weston County First

Don Taylor is running because he believes Weston County's future is bright. With responsible leadership, sound financial management, strong public services, and engaged citizens, the county can continue to grow and prosper while preserving the values that make it a great place to call home.

His commitment is simple: listen to the people, protect taxpayer dollars, support local communities, and work every day to make Weston County stronger for future generations.
